AMPed Show #429

Mon, 03/03/2014 - 05:00
Hosted this week by Erk of Erk FM with music from Sweet Soubrette, Anne Davis, Junius, Kill Matilda, Spring The Trap, Head Phones President and Head Phones President [powerpress] [caption id="amped-show-429" align="alignright" width="150"]host-logo AMPed hosted this week by Erk of Erk FM[/caption]
  1. Be My Man by Sweet Soubrette Submited by Peter Clitheroe of Suffolk 'n' Cool

Sweet Soubrette’s dark, edgy love songs feature the songwriting, vocals and ukulele of Ellia Bisker (recipient of four ASCAP Plus Awards for her songwriting), along with a talented backing band of bass, drums, piano, strings, and horns. Bisker honed her performance chops playing ukulele in the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, and the glittery eyelashes she wears onstage hint at her vaudeville origins.

  2. Where the Roads Cross by Anne Davis Submited by Matt Brier of Idiosyncratic Transmissions

Anne Davis is a "folk-alternative" artist who has been singing songs for as long as she can remember. She wrote all 15 songs on her debut album Letters, Prayers, and Journal entries. In addition she insisted on using only real, actual instruments in the recording(no drum machines or computer generated sounds) giving it an overall organic feel.

  3. Forgiving The Cleansing Meteor by Junius Submited by Ro of DarkCompass

Junius are a four piece post-rock band from Boston, blending powerfully deep lyrics with a phenomenal wall of sound.
Forgiving the Cleansing Meteor is taken from their latest release on the Prosthetic Records label, called "Days of the Fallen Sun" and have recently toured Europe with Wolves Like Us, another favourite of DarkCompass.

  4. Zombie Apocalypse by Kill Matilda Submited by Chris from Canada of Insomnia Radio: Canada

This track comes from their EP due out March 4th 2014. The band will be touring all over Canada in the coming months. If you like Hole, Garbage, The Misfits, or Paramore you're sure to enjoy this track.

  5. The Maze by Spring The Trap Submited by Stuart Morrison of Insomnia Radio

Spring The Trap are based in Seattle Washington, and this from their recent eponymous EP. You can stream that from their ReverbNation site.

  6. Nowhere by Head Phones President Submited by Erk of Erk FM: Metal Monday

Head Phones President have been on Erk's radar for some time. They are a Japanese female fronted metal band who have toured around various parts of the world, amazing fans with powerful vocals & musicianship. Fans have even traveled to Japan to see them perform in their home country.

  7. Reality by Head Phones President Submited by Erk of Erk FM

During Erk's recent trip to Japan, he searched out Head Phones President, hoping to see them live. However, the band were between gigs. Heading to the Tower Records store in Shibuya, Erk thought that the logical place to find this female fronted metal band was in the metal section of the store.
